My artistic endeavors began when I was very
small. The first thing I drew was a horse, because of my love for them. My dear Mother, along with my first grade teacher, knew
how to nurture my gift, and made sure I had the art supplies I needed to branch out and further my skills.
Like many, when the computer became popular in the 1990's,
I experimented with using it to manipulate and enhance my creations.
While attending college for a few years, I took as
many Art, English, Gallery Prep, Photography and Graphic Design classes as I could.
That brings me to where I am today.
I live in beautiful Salmon Creek, a suburb of Vancouver,
WA. I love nature, and beautiful things, and strive to capture those moments and display them the way I see them. Life
is beautiful...when we try to see the good there is in the world.
I've had two main "champions" in my life...my Mom,
and my best friend Teresa.
These two people believed in me and my gift and have stood
by me, encouraged me, and loved me unconditionally throughout my whole life.
Without them, I would be nothing.
Art, photography, animals, music...all these things are ingrained
in my soul. If I can make just one person happy by sharing the beauty I see, my life will have been worthwhile.

As far back as I can remember, my Mom
loved hummingbirds. Mom always had feeders up at every place she ever lived. I’ve always liked them, too. When I
was 16, my Mom took me to the Portland library to do some genealogy research. We knew that one of our ancestors was named
Jacque DuBois, and on that day I found in a book that he had immigrated from France in the 1600's and founded a town called
New Paltz in New York. I had also heard stories of my Great~Gramma Carrie DuBois, who had traveled across the United States
in a covered wagon. I thought she must be very courageous and strong, and wished I had her name. From that day on I wanted
my last name to be DuBois. When I divorced in 1996, I was able to legally change my name to that of my ancestors. My
beautiful, exceptional, wonderful Mom passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in June of 2004. From that time on, hummingbirds
have been visiting me at certain moments in my life, totally unexpectedly. Like in the middle of winter, in front a window
I was looking out of, in the middle of downtown Vancouver...at the exact moment I was thinking of her. It hovered there
for what seemed like minutes, looking at me, then zoomed up and sat on a wire, looking down at me. A Native American belief
is that the hummingbird can cross back and forth between the real world and the spirit world. Since my Mom, my art, the
DuBois family name, and the hummingbird are so entwined, I knew when I picked a logo it would have to incorporate all of them
into one. Voila.
